Shri. Alkesh Kumar Sharma, IAS IAS Secretary | 24 March 2023
The vision of Digital India programme is to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. National Informatics Centre, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has been at the forefront in promulgating various eGovernance systems which have made a remarkable impact in the functioning of Government. These products, platforms and services are enabling the citizens to avail benefits of government initiatives from grassroots level of villages and blocks onwards.
The Government eProcurement system of NIC which has been facilitating electronic tendering for over a decade and has processed over 100 Lakh tenders worth over Rs 100 Lakh crores, has played a phenomenal role in metamorphosing G2G operations. The smooth conduct of auction of Gift items presented to Honble Prime Minister year after year is another feather in NIC cap.
Scoring top rank in National eGovernance Service delivery awards (NeSDA), Certification by World Bank and Asian development bank summarises the reason for wide spread acceptance and exponential growth.
My special thanks to Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance for close association with our team and for providing their guidance.
I congratulate all the users across government and industry and NIC for this great milestone journey and wish all the very best for future.
