The Government of Assam is committed to the principles of transparency, efficiency, economy and quality in public procurement. Implementation of GePNIC portal in Assam is a major step towards procurement reforms. The journey of e-procurement in Assam began in 2015 through Government e-Procurement portal (GePNIC), developed by National Informatics Centrewith nine departments, and in due course of time it was made mandatory for all Tender Inviting Authorities in the Government of Assam. Currently more than 400 Tender Inviting Authorities (TIA) are registered with the GePNIC portal and on an average, 6000 tenders are being published on this portal every financial year. In these 8 years of eTendering, the GePNIC portal has helped to make the procurement process more secure and faster with streamlined process flow. It has greatly reduced the procurement cycle time and increased bidder participation.
Government of Assam has left no stone unturned to educate all the TIA as well as bidders with the help of a Dedicated Help Desk. The team also supports handling queries and addresses the issues related to bidders as well as TIA.
In Assam, GePNIC has been rolled out under the aegis of the Finance Department, Government of Assam, and NIC has been a valued technology partner in eProcurement. GePNIC is a great solution using cutting edge techniques and incorporating industry best practices.
